Meet the Founders of Our African Charity

Lisa and Annetta met at work in the United Kingdom and paired up for a 'coffee date' as part of their company's employee engagement initiative. During this meeting, they discovered their shared passion for empowering women and making a positive impact. In November 2018, their dream to champion female education in The Gambia began to take shape.

In 2018, Annetta visited The Gambia and witnessed a heart-wrenching scene. A mother was compelled to force her child into early marriage due to severe financial hardships, earning less than €2 per day. This incident ignited a deep conviction within Annetta to break the cycle of early child marriage and promote women's education.

Our girls’ education movement is rooted in a deep sense of purpose and passion. The meeting of Annetta and Lisa may seem accidental, but from the moment that led to their first encounter, the purpose that they were destined to fulfill came to life.

Annetta and Lisa’s shared passion for social justice, human equity, and a fairer society for all is put into action by educating and empowering girls through education in The Gambia. Driven by determination, Annetta and Lisa founded The SaGG Foundation, an educational non-profit organization. Its mission is to secure sponsorship for education from sponsors and donors enabling girls to access education. By supporting female education, the foundation aims to create a brighter future for young women in The Gambia.

Annetta Paps-King

Annetta, a passionate advocate for girls' rights and quality education, hails from The Gambia and holds a degree from the University of Bedfordshire. She is dedicated to women's empowerment and human rights, focusing on underserved areas facing socio-economic challenges.

Annetta leverages education to drive financial inclusion and economic opportunity, aiming to lift nations out of poverty. Beyond her roles as a University Lecturer and Deputy Course Leader, she tirelessly champions girls' education funding and policy reform on a global scale.

Lisa Zscheye

Lisa, a Human Resources Specialist from Germany, she is a passionate advocate for global equality. Inspired by her country's commitment to providing quality, unbiased education, she champions the education of girls in The Gambia. Lisa believes that every child, regardless of geography or socio-economic background, deserves the same opportunities.

Her dedication to this cause is evident in her sponsorship of a Gambian girl and her active role as a campaign Champion. Outside of work, she travels to developing countries, striving to create positive change.
