Girls in The Gambia aren’t given the most basic right to education. They’re married off at an early age, are forced to start a family, are victims of malpractices and injustice that completely eliminates their voice or will to make decisions. As handicapped as they seem, sadly this is the reality and pre-decided fate of these young girls. They aren’t treated as equals in society and aren’t aware of the kind of self-sufficient life they could live if only they were given an opportunity to get educated.

We at SaGG aim to bridge the gap between young Gambian girls and their education. By aligning their educational needs with their ambitions, we want them to push them to accomplish a fulfilled life that opens many more career opportunities for them.

Where do your Funds go?

​Your funds would be used for paying the educational fees of Gambian girls which range from £150 to £300 per year. We educate girls from nursery to university to ensure their constant educational nourishment and to push them to spread their wings into the world. We do not leave them hanging and sometimes take responsibilities into our own hands to make sure they have a protected umbrella covering their education.

By fundraising, you would also be contributing to their educational essentials like uniforms, study books, stationery, sanitary protection and other schooling amenities. Hence, you not only fund their education, but you’re also helping to build and shape a girl’s personal development to become independent leaders of tomorrow!

Keeping the above in mind, we ensure that 100% of your funds are directed to the girl/s for their education and well-being.

Negative Impacts of Covid-19

​As you are aware of the grave consequences that swept in, post the COVID-19 pandemic, our girls, too, faced the repercussions. About 50 girls lost their sponsors and due to this, they do not have any financial support to sponsor their education. Their dreams have now come to a standstill. Many of our girls are bright scholars and have scored significantly high scores in their report performances. However, without further sponsorship, they are not able to continue their education.

We make a humble request to help us overcome this phase and get on with the world like everyone else. We can empower them to overcome obstacles, unlock their potential, and build a brighter future! You don’t need any luxury or extra affordability to be able to supply for these kids. By spending as little as 5 pence a day or £12 a month, you could keep a girl in school and help her study just like you! Whether you intend on making a donation, sponsoring or fundraising with friends, there are many ways to take part in this initiative for girls’ education in The Gambia.
